Tarik I. Kindell aka Yung Cantaloupe in tux

Tarik was blessed with a kind and loving spirit which was evident in all he did.

When Tarik was seven, he began to learn about the importance of serving others as he accompanied his mother to her volunteer sessions. He volunteered at the YMCA camp his uncle directed in Dumont, New Jersey. He also volunteered at the YMCA in Dunwoody, Georgia, where, as a member of the Leaders Club, he went on a mission trip to Costa Rica. Tarik also went on a mission trip to Nicaragua with Comunidad Connect. These mission trips focused on the health and education of children in those Central American nations.

Tarik attended technology summer camps from the ages of 10 to 16, where he discovered his aptitude in the field of technology. This led him to pursue a degree in computer science at Kennesaw State University. As an avid reader from a very young age, Tarik’s interest in creative writing and the literary arts blossomed while at Kennesaw. He added screenwriters and producers such as Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, to his field of studies.

Tarik began laying the initial concept for a foundation while at college. He discussed wanting to encourage children to develop a love for reading and creative writing. He also discussed wanting to develop and promote insightful and uplifting stories and visual images that would project a more peaceful and prosperous world for all. This website was created to help bring those goals into reality and to support the organizations of which Tarik was a part.

We encourage friends, family, colleagues, and loved ones to honor Tarik by donating directly to the Kennesaw State University, YMCA Leaders Club, or Comunidad ConnectThese programs and institutions were a part of Tarik’s life and, along with his family, had a positive impact on his development and beliefs. When making a donation, please specify that the donation is "in honor of" or "in tribute to" Tarik Irving Kindell.
